Существенные расходы, производимые на восстановление производственной мощности основного средства после выхода его из строя в результате поломки, неправильного или чрезмерного использования, либо халатности. Внеплановые ремонты вызывают начисление избыточной амортизации активов сверх и выше той, что покрывается плановыми ремонтами. В результате проведения внепланового ремонта восстанавливается нормальная рабочая производительность основного средства. Эти расходы следует отличать от усовершенствования или модернизации, результатом которых является повышение рабочей мощности.
